Penny Jane Owen was born on January 24, 1958, in Los Angeles, California. She is the least known daughter of actress Donna Reed and producer Tony Owen. Reed was an actress and producer in Hollywood. She is best known for her roles in It’s a Wonderful Life and The Donna Reed Show.

Penny Jane has 3 siblings, Anthony Jr, Mary Anne, and Timothy. It was reported that Penny Jane was adopted. Despite being sighted with her younger days, Penny Jane likes being left alone by the media.

Penny Jane Owen’s Mother is Donna Reed

Born Donna Belle Mullenger, Donna Reed was born in Denison, Iowa, on January 27, 1921. Her parents were Hazel Jane Mullenger née Shives and William Richard Mullenger. Reed had two brothers, Robert and Richard, and a sister, Dorothy. The family moved to Hollywood in 1924 when Reed was three years old.

Donna Reed’s Career

Donna Reed was an American actress and producer. Her career spanned more than 40 years, during which she appeared in numerous films and television series. She is best remembered for her role as Mary Hatch Bailey in the 1946 film It’s a Wonderful Life.

Reed began her acting career in the early 1940s. She appeared in a number of films, including They Won’t Believe Me (1947), Mr. Belvedere Goes to College (1948), and It’s a Wonderful Life (1946). Reed’s most famous role was as Donna Stone in The Donna Reed Show. The show aired from 1958 to 1966. Reed won a Golden Globe Award for her work on the show. After The Donna Reed Show ended, Reed appeared in a number of films and television shows. She also produced a number of television films.

Reed’s Marriages

Donna Reed first married William Turtle, a makeup artist, in 1943. Two years later they separated. Donna then married her agent, Tony Owen and were together for 26 years before their split in 1971. After three years, Reed married again for the third and the last time in 1974.  She died of pancreatic cancer on January 14, 1986, at the age of 64.

All About Donna Reed’s Children

Donna Reed’s children are all successful in their own right. Her eldest daughter, Mary, became an actress. She acted in the movie “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.” In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Mary Anne is also a philanthropist. She is involved with many charitable organizations, and has served on the board of directors for several of them. She is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Reed’s eldest son, Anthony, is a community college teacher. He is also the president of the non-profit organization Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts.
