Penny Jane Owen was born on January 24, 1958, in Los Angeles, California. She is the least known daughter of actress Donna Reed and producer Tony Owen. Reed was an actress and producer in Hollywood. She is best known for her roles in It’s a Wonderful Life and The Donna Reed Show.

Born Donna Belle Mullenger, Donna Reed was born in Denison, Iowa, on January 27, 1921. Her parents were Hazel Jane Mullenger née Shives and William Richard Mullenger. Reed had two brothers, Robert and Richard, and a sister, Dorothy. The family moved to Hollywood in 1924 when Reed was three years old.

Reed’s most famous role was as Donna Stone in The Donna Reed Show. The show aired from 1958 to 1966. Reed won a Golden Globe Award for her work on the show. Reed’s Marriages

Donna Reed first married William Turtle, a makeup artist, in 1943. Two years later they separated. Donna then married her agent, Tony Owen and were together for 26 years before their split in 1971. After three years, Reed married again for the third and the last time in 1974.  She died of pancreatic cancer on January 14, 1986, at the age of 64.

Donna Reed’s children are all successful in their own right. Her eldest daughter, Mary, became an actress.
