Alexandra Patricia Morgan was born on July 2, 1989, in San Dimas, California, to parents Michael Morgan and Pamela Morgan. She has two older sisters, Jeri and Jeni, and all of them were brought up in a suburb near Diamond Bar.
Growing up, she was a multi-athlete and played different kinds of sports. She started to play soccer at a really young age, with her father as one of her early coaches. However, it was only when she was 14 that she started to play club soccer when she joined the Cypress Elite.
Morgan went to Diamond Bar High School, where she was considered for her amazing sprinting ability and speed. She was an all-league pick three times and was named All-American by the NSCAA or National Soccer Coaches Association.

It was in 2011 that Morgan was discovered by the Western New York Flash. She was the first overall pick in the WPS draft in 2011. She was also the first Californian player to be included in the draft of the first round of WPS (Women’s Professional Soccer).
When WPS was suspended in 2012 due to financial and legal difficulties, Morgan joined the Seattle Sounders Women for the 2012 season. Since she was also busy preparing for the 2012 Summer Olympics, she only made three appearances on the regular season of the soccer club.
