Charles’ mother, Susan Tedeschi, was born on 9 November 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. Her father is Dick Tedeschi. She is the granddaughter of Nick Tedeschi and great-granddaughter of Angelo Tedeschi, founder of Tedeschi Food Shops based in New England.
Susan made her public debut as a six-year-old understudy in a Broadway musical. she formed the Susan Tedeschi Band in 1993 and learned to play blues guitar from musician Tim Gearan. Her debut album was Better Days, followed by Just Won’t Burn, which reached Gold record status for sales of 500,000 in the U.S.
Susan met Derek Trucks while in New Orleans for the Allman Brothers Band’s 1999 summer tour. They dated for a while and tied the knot on 5 December 2001. Susan and Derek announced a hiatus for their solo bands in 2010. They then formed a new group called Tedeschi Trucks Band, which performed at various festivals like Crossroads Guitar Festival and Fuji Rock Festival.
Before Tedeschi Trucks, Susan and Derek collaborated on the project Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi’s Soul Stew Revival. Their current band focuses on producing original material.
Born on 8 June 1979, Derek Trucks has twice appeared on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. His music is mainly rooted in blues and rock, but he also explores other genres like Southern rock, jazz, soul, qawwali, and Latin music, among others.
