As with anything, how do you know if what you have is any good? How do you measure quality and good value for money, especially when it comes to services and equipment? It would be fair to say that, without anything to compare against, anything could be classed as good, you might think that red apples are the best thing on earth until you see, and taste green apples, at which point you might never touch a red apple ever again. How this ended up talking about apple’s certainly wasn’t intended, if you do have a Mac though, how do you know that it’s any good, how do you know whether, or not you could be much more productive with a different machine altogether?
It’s not all about looks either
Most people are attracted to things that they think look good, and who can blame them, a good bit of eye candy helps the world go round. However, if you’re a business owner, all mouth and no trousers doesn’t really cut it, no different to the products or services that you provide, they must do what they say on the tin or, you soon start to lose customers.
This couldn’t be any more prudent when it comes to IT support in Tampa and the equipment that you use. Take your laptop for example, do you know what’s inside? Who makes the components or when they were actually made? The chances are a big fat no, and why would you if a machine says it’s the new 2022 model, then that’s what it is right?
It’s all about context
If a manufacturer wants to build a machine using an Intel CPU, an Nvidia GPU, Samsung RAM and an NVMe drive that has a different M.2 Wi-Fi adapter than their last year’s model then they can call it the new 2022 model if they want to. At a further glance, though when you look at the components/hardware that the company has used, they didn’t make them, they were ‘gifted’, they just use them to put inside their sleek looking plastic case.
Furthermore, when you look at when the individual components were actually released to the mainstream market, you might find out that they are 2 or 3 years old. How on earth would you know unless you knew a thing or two? You wouldn’t and that’s the danger with taking things at face value, you could be buying hardware that’s outdated without even realising it. More often, than not things are never quite what they seem when you peel back the shiny casing.
Grabbing your attention
The trouble is that’s precisely what today’s marketing is all about, looks rather than substance, which, as a business owner could be a problem, the only real way to know that you’re getting what you pay for and that you are receiving good value for money is to compare what you have against other alternatives.
Not only that, but anyone can also set up a website these days and proclaim to be an expert with the right webpage content, an on-site audit, evidence of prior success and validated testimonials from long term clients are what’s needed to make sure you have what you need and, that you are getting good value for money.
