Judy Stewart-Merrill Early Life and Career

Judy Stewart-Merrill was born on7 May 1951 in the United States of America. Her father, Stewart, tended to be guarded about his children’s personal life; much isn’t known about her upbringing. She is not the only child her parents had, as she has a twin sister, Kelly Stewart-Merrill and two step-siblings, Michael and Ronald Stewart.

Judy Stewart married Steven Merrill, with whom they have two children, David Merrill and John Merrill.

Judy Stewart is known for her role in V.I.P.-Schaukel in 1971, Password in 1961, and The Mike Douglas Show in the same year.

Judy Stewart-Merrill’s Parents

James Maitland Steward was born on 20 May 1908. He was an actor and military pilot who ensured he kept his private life out of media scrutiny. He portrayed a strong morality on and off set and epitomized the “American ideal” in the mid-twentieth century. His first screen appearance was in Art Trouble in 1934. He worked for MGM as a contract layer and made a name for himself as he earned high-profile roles in the 1930s. His collaborations with Frank Capra in You Can’t Take It with You, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, and It’s a Wonderful Life helped launch his career and establish a likeable man screen persona.

Steward learned to fly in 1935 and got drafted into the United States Army in 1940. In 1959, he got promoted to brigadier general, becoming the highest-ranked actor in U.S. military history. He retired in 1968. He continued with his acting career after the war.

On 2 July 1997, Stewart died aged 89. His children surrounded him at his home in Beverly Hills, California, during his last moments. His last words to them were, “I’m going to be with Gloria.”

Gloria Hatrick McLean was born on 10 March 1918. She was an actress and model who attended the Finch School in New York and studied drama for two years at a dramatic school. Her first marriage was to Edward Beale McLean Jr., with whom she had two sons, Ronald and Michael McLean. Ronald died on duty in 1969.

After her divorce in January 1948, she married James Stewart, who adopted her children from the first marriage. Together they had twin daughters born on 7 May 1951. They named the twins Judy Stewart and Kelly Stewart, who is an anthropologist.

The couple remained married till her death on 16 February 1994, aged 75.
