Love Is War Season 2: Release Date, Cast, New Season/Cancelled

Romantic comedies are one of the safest formulas to success. We’ve had so many romantic comedies in the past few decades and yet we can never have them enough. You can turn to a romantic comedy, no matter what your mood is. It helps you brighten your mood when you’re feeling low and lets you celebrate your happy moments whenever you feel like it.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is one such anime that presents love from an entirely new perspective. The story revolves around two youngsters who do feel romantically for each other. However, they refrain from confessing their love for each other for the sake of their egos. The story unfolds as they play different tricks on each other to make the other confess their love first. 

We’ve had enough love stories about “classic love” and “compromises”. It is about time we had something that encompasses the issues of modern-day love stories. Fans of the show have been waiting for the release of the second season of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.

The Manga was written by Aka Akasaka and it was published by Shueisha. The English publisher of the Manga was Viz Media. Imprints of the Manga were produced by Young Jump Comics. It was serialized in the Magazine, Miracle Jump, from May 19, 2015, to January 19, 2016. In the Weekly Young Jump magazine, it was serialized from March 24, 2016, to the present. The Manga is particularly based in Seinen and its first volume was released on May 19, 2015. It has a total of 23 Volumes.

The Manga “Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Dōjin-ban” has been written by Shinta Sakayama and has been published by Shueisha. Its Imprint has been provided by Young Jump Comics. The Manga was serialized in the Magazine, Tonari no Young Jump. It had an Original run from June 14, 2018, to June 25, 2020, and had 4 volumes. 

The Manga Kaguya-sama was made into an anime television series, which was directed by Shinichi Omata. It was produced by Tatsuya Ishikawa, Naoto Nakajima, Taku Funakoshi, and Toshihiro Maeda. It was written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi and Yukie Sugawara. Music for the series was given by Kei Haneoka. The Studio involved in its making was A-1 Pictures. The show was licensed by

Aniplex of America and Muse Communication. The networks on which it aired were Tokyo MX, GTV, GYT, BS11, MBS, CTV, and TVN. It aired from January 12, 2019, to March 30, 2019. The first season of the show had 12 episodes.

It aired from April 11, 2020, to June 27, 2020, and had a total of 24 episodes in its two seasons.

Plot:

Kaguya Sama: Love is War is a Japanese anime series based on the manga entitled – Kaguya Sama: Love is War written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka. The series follows the story of two teen intellectuals in high school who work as acquaintances in the Shuchi’in Academy’s student council. 

The intellectuals are Miyuki Shirogane – the president of the student council who excels in studies and always manages to get the highest score in the whole school and his vice president – Kaguya Shinomiya, the daughter of the owner of the Shinomiya group which has a total worth of a hundred trillion yen. While Kaguya is an ideal young lady in her teens with fairly good looks and great intellect, president Miyuki also possesses a great personality followed by good looks. 

The whole school staff and the children see them as a match made in the heavens and made for each other thinking that they are dating but the things aren’t the way they look. Both the parties fairly like each other but have great egos that stop them from confessing. The principle both the parties follow is that in a relationship there is always a lover and the one being loved, the lover always loses, confession means losing, or to sum up in short, Love is War. 

The cast also includes a very cheerful and lovely secretary named Chika Fujiwara and the student council’s treasurer Yu Ishigami who is a certified otaku with a fairly negligible love life. The story continues with both Shinomiya and Shirogane playing tricks on each other to get a confession and win but it never goes as planned.

Episodes:

The show “Kaguya-sama: Love is War?” had 12 episodes in its first season. The first episode of the first season was named “I Want to Make You Invite Me to a Movie” which premiered on January 12, 2019. The last (12th) episode of the first season was named “I Can’t Hear the Fireworks, Part 2” and it aired on March 30, 2019. The first episode of the second season was named “Ai Hayasaka Wants to Stave Them Off” and it premiered on April 11, 2020. The last episode of the second season aired on June 27, 2020, and was named “The Student Council Would Like a Group Photo”.

Will there be a season 3?

After the second season went off the air, fans were eagerly waiting for the announcement of the third season. Well, the good news is, there will be a third season. However, the makers haven’t announced the release date of the third season, but we’re hoping it would release towards the end of 2021 if it follows its previous pattern.
