Martin Fitzgerald Lawrence was born on April 16, 1965, in Frankfurt, Germany to parents Chlora Lawrence and John Lawrence. When he was only eight, his parents got divorced, which forced his mother to find work.
He was brought up in Queens, New York City, and was transferred from one school to another. He went to Thomas G. Pullen School of Creative and Performing Arts, Fairmont Heights High School, Eleanor Roosevelt High School, and Friendly High School. In his school days, he learned boxing and participated in numerous matches. It was known that fighting has helped him cope up with his parents’ divorce.
