Sarah Lynne Cheney is the daughter of Mary Cheney and Heather Poe, both US politicians. She was born on November 18, 2009, in Washington, Columbia County, United States. Sarah’s parents met in the early 1990s and began dating in 1996. They got married on June 22, 2012, three years after Sarah was born.

Sarah has one older brother, Samuel. Samuel David Cheney was born on May 23, 2007, in Washington, D.C. Both Sarah and Samuel are still in school. Sarah’s parents are both very supportive of her and her sibling. They have always encouraged them to follow their dreams.

Richard Bruce Cheney, popularly called Dick Cheney, was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 30, 1941, to Richard Herbert Cheney and Marjorie Lorraine Cheney. He married Lynne Vincent on August 29, 1964, and they had two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary. Cheney then enrolled in the University of Wisconsin Law School, and earned his Juris Doctor in August of 1967.

During the summer of 1964, he worked as an intern for Congressman William A. Steiger. He then attended Yale University, where he majored in history, and he was a member of the secret society Skull and Bones. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 1963.

After working as an attorney in the private sector, Cheney was appointed Assistant to the President for International Economic Affairs in the Nixon Administration. He later served as the White House Chief of Staff for President Gerald Ford.

In 1978, Robert was elected to the United States House of Representatives from Wyoming, and he served there for 10 years. He was then elected as the U.S. Secretary of Defense in 1989, and served in that position for four years under President George H. W. Bush.

In 2001, Cheney was elected Vice President of the United States, and he served in that office for two terms under President George W. Bush. Cheney retired from politics after his second term as Vice President ended in 2009.
