Ultraman is a Japanese anime series written by Ryo Higaki, Kurasumi Sunayama, and Harumi Doki. The anime is an adaptation by 3DCG original net animation (ONA) and also (studio) co-produced by Production I.G. a Sola Digital Arts. The series was released on Netflix in April 2019.
The anime series was directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki. It is produced by Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and Joseph Chou. The music on the series is produced by Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi. Ultraman has 13 episodes and the show is still running as it is renewed for another season.
The manga series is written by Eiichi Shimizu and illustrated by Tomohiro Shimoguchi, both also known for creating Linebarrels of Iron manga series.
Netflix has announced the production for season 2 through several social media platforms globally. Fans around the world are excited because their favorite show is returning for its second season.

Ultraman Plot
In the first installment of the show, after the event years ago of Ultraman and the Giant of Light, as believed by many that he returned home after saving the earth from giant alien invasion. Shinjiro inherited the Ultra genes from his father which allow him to be stronger than a normal human. Shin then revealed to Shinjiro that he was Ultraman.
Shinjiro, with his discovered ability, battles the giant aliens invading earth as well as facing interfering government agencies as the new Ultraman. The story is more complicated as it is difficult to tell the good guys from the bad guys, and it will be a great challenge for Ultraman as he saves the day.
Ultraman Season 2 Recap
In the upcoming season of Ultraman, we might get to watch the continuation of the story. We might see the father and son relationship, Shin Hayata (father) and Shinjiro Hayata (son). There will be new threats that the heroes would encounter and test their abilities.
There might be new characters that we will get to see in season two. We might also get to see characters that were supposed to appear in season 1 but didn’t. It would be delightful to see an intense fight sequence that gives an edge to the Ultraman series.
Ultraman Season 2 Characters
In season two of Ultraman, we will be seeing the main characters again and see our favorite hero battle against new threats. So, here are the characters in the anime series.
Shinjiro Hayata is the protagonist of the Ultraman series, anime, and manga. Shinjiro is a 17-year-old boy who inherited the Ultra genes from his father, Shin Hayata. His mother is unnamed. He then followed his father’s footsteps on saving the earth from giant alien invasion and any other threats. Shinjiru possesses a sense of justice and disapproves of brutality and killing enemies. His powers are superhuman physique, flight, limit release/special beam. Upon wearing his Ultraman suit which focuses on his super strength, provides superior defense, special core, special blades, special beams, spacious slash, spacium rifle, and cloaking. The character is voiced by Ryohei Kimura.
Shin Hayata is the father of Shinjiro Hayata. He was the Ultraman before his son and is still fighting to protect the earth, yet his age is beginning to catch up to him. 40 years after the Ultraman event which is in the original series, he became the head of the Defense Agency. Shin is 48 years old. After Shin’s merger with Ultraman, his body gained the Ultra DNA, known as the Ultraman Factor, which gave him his super abilities. The character is voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka.
Dan Moroboshi, also known as Agent No. 340, is the no-nonsense of the new SSSP, Science Special Search-Party. He reports directly to the SSSP leader. Dan is also the weaver of the Seven Suits. The character is voiced by Takuya Eguchi.
Seiji Hokuto is the wearer of the Ace suit. He is the third Ultraman to appear as well. Seiji is 16 years old. He is very playful and lighthearted. He is the youngest, shortest, and the lightest among the Ultramen. The character is voiced by Megumi Han.
Mitsuhiro Ide is a tech wizard of the organization SSSP and the genius behind the Ultraman suits. Mitsuhiro is a friend of Shin Hayata for so many years and poses as an uncle to Shinjiro. He is the first member of the SSSP original team which is seen in the manga.
Bipolar, who appears human-sized, is Shinjiro’s first opponent. His powers are heat ray, combat power, secondary-arms, durability/endurance, light bullets, flight, human disguise, and spacium ray. In the anime, Bemular starts with his second suit. In the manga, Bemular lost his entire left side of his body and part of his mask, while in the anime he only loses his left arm.
Ultraman Season 2 Release Date
The release of Ultraman in 2019 became a hit among the viewers and was also trending after the release. After the first season, fans began to demand another season of the show.
Fans were very excited for season two when Netflix announced that season two is in production. Though anime series take time to be produced, there’s no official date of the release. Fans might get to watch the second season in late 2021 or early 2022.
Good news for fans, there’s a trailer released for Ultraman season 2. Netflix released the teaser trailer on July 5, 2020. The trailer is available on Netflix.

The manga series of Ultra sold over 2.4 million copies around the world in 2017 and then 2.8 million copies in 2018.
In 2019, Netflix’s adaptation of Ultraman was the most-watched anime of the year. The series was the sixth’s most-watched program overall. Aside from being the most-watched anime series, Ultraman also received a nomination in the 47th Annie Awards for Best Direction- TV/Media Category in 2020.
Overall, in the Ultraman series, Shinjiro is the 6th human canon character introduced that was confirmed with Ultra Genes. The first five were Daigo Madoka, Keigo Masaki, Tsubasa Madoka, Amu, and Shin Hayata.
