3 Vehicles to Buy for $100,000 and How to Store Them

We all dream of having the ideal vehicle for every activity: driving the family around, weaving effortlessly through heavy traffic, getting out for the weekend, and even having some fun off-road. Then there are the times for simply showing off. With a hundred grand in your pocket, you might be able to buy three great rides which let you maximize your motoring.

We decided to match up three sets of brand-new cars — plus a couple of motorcycles — which we think would satisfy a lot of people, including those who see the future as electric. These vehicles should get you through a whole range of activities and adventures without you wishing you had something else in the garage. As almost a quarter of American households have more than two cars or other light vehicles, we think three should be a reasonable number.

Having spent the $100,000, you might not have enough left in the bank to upgrade your property to include more garage space, so we then consider how you can store your new vehicles. Self storage is a great way to keep cars and motorcycles safe and secure, with outdoor lots at low monthly rents and indoor units giving protection against extreme weather or for when your vehicle is especially valuable.

Toyota Avalon Hybrid

Set 1: Trustworthy, Muscle-Bound, and Muddy

Toyota Avalon Hybrid: around $40,000

A large family sedan, and a good one, coming with Toyota’s reputation for reliability — all the way from their Georgetown, KY, factory. And if that wasn’t sensible enough, it has the ecological advantages of a hybrid.

Dodge Challenger SXT: around $30,000

There was always going to be some muscle in these lists, and you might want it after driving the sedan. The Challenger is still a lot of car for the money. Yep, we could also have chosen a Mustang for about the same price.

Ford Bronco: around $30,000

The legend is back! Although classified as a ‘mid-size SUV,’ the new Bronco is an off-road vehicle like they used to be, styled on the original 1960s models and with a 2-door option. Don’t bother washing the mud off this one.

Set 2: Well-Built, Doing the Job, and Turning Heads

BMW X3: around $45,000

A luxury compact SUV for families looking for something a bit more chunky. Comfort, performance, and German build quality coming from the company’s factory in Greer, SC. Electric and hybrid options are also available.

Ford F-150 XLT: starting around $35,000

F-Series pickups started way back in 1948 and are frequently America’s best selling vehicles. Two-door and supercrew versions of the new XLT are available, plus of course you can put all the junk you want in the back.

Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic: around $20,000

If you’re not crazy about your other vehicles’ modern styling, get one of the greatest looks ever in American motoring. Part of Harley’s Softail family, this big-twin epitomizes their classic image and pedigree.

Set 3: The American Dream, Dating, and The Electric Future

Cadillac XT6: around $50,000

Many kids dreamed of making it in The Big City then coming home and cruising down Main Street in their brand-new Eldorado. This Caddy is more for those with families of 7 but is still sumptuous and built to impress.

Chevrolet Camaro 1LT Convertible: a little more than $30,000

More muscle, but this pony is an open top, so it’s also a treat for cruising coastal roads and country lanes at a more leisurely pace, when the weather’s good. Very much appreciated by both boys and girls, we understand.

Zero Motorcycles SR/F: around $20,000

Zero, established in California in 2006 as Electricross, has become a leader in electric bike manufacturing. Going from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds and with a decent range, the SR/F is great for both recreation and commuting.

We reckon you can have a lot of enjoyment with our selections, and maybe also keep your family and friends happy. Park your everyday car in your garage or on your driveway and keep the fancy one at your local self storage facility, either outside or in a 10’x20’ storage unit. Motorcycles can be kept in a 5’x10’ unit, and a 20’x20’ would accommodate all your vehicles safely.

The self storage industry has grown so much in recent years that prices are competitive and there is very likely to be a facility near where you live. Get your muscle car or your hog out when you feel like having fun, pick up your pickup when there’s work to be done, access your off-roader if you want to go wild, or grab your convertible to show someone your style. Happy motoring.
