How To Measure, Install And Maintain Venetian Window Blinds

Venetian blinds are also known as slat blinds or horizontal blinds. They are an amazing option for making a lovely addition to your home especially if you are living in a region like Australia.  They originated from the beautiful town of Venice and are very beautiful and convenient and at the same time look very fashionable.  You need to know that the installation process of the blinds is straightforward and in addition to this, they are very easy to maintain also.  So due to these reasons many homeowners, especially in Australia, are using the slat blinds for their homes.  if you are installing new blinds then follow these tips

Selecting The New Venetian Blinds

The most amazing thing about these slat Blinds is their versatile nature which simply means that they are manufactured in three types of materials,  which is aluminum,  plastic, and wood.  They are manufactured in many different sizes and styles and you can choose anyone based on the theme of your room and your taste.

Inside Or Outside Mount

After you choose the horizontal Blinds for your home then the next thing is to decide whether you want an inside or outside mount and the main reason behind this is that this choice will affect the amount of light that would be allowed to enter a room.  the main difference between inside and outside Mount is that

  • In the case of the inside Mount the Blinds are simply fixed inside a frame of a window which as a result gives a sample and minimalistic appearance. they would need spacing to be e available on each side of the Blinds
  • when it comes to the outside Mount then you need to know that they are fitted on the window frame or installed on the wall. This type is generally more preferred if someone wants a more private or dark appearance on his property

Measurement And Size

Measure your windows by using a pencil, paper, and tape measure.

  • In the case of an inside mount add an extra 10 mm and measure the depth for adding recess. You would be needing much space for fitting the blinds. Make sure that the width of the salt is greater than the depth of recess otherwise it would rub against the window. In case the window is not square then use the shortest width and write it down. Also, measure the length inside the recess which is known as the vertical drop.
  • In the case of an outside mound place the tape on one side of the architrave and measure the width to the other side. Measure the length from the start to the base of the window. Leave space for the headrail to be fitted above the window.

Installation

  • Mark two points on both sides of the window, the points should be of the same height. In case you are having a wide window then plan for an additional bracket in the middle of the frame for supporting the weight of the blinds
  • By drilling, make a hole on the marked points and put the brackets in place with screws. If you want it to be more secure then use an impact driver attachment for drilling
  • Open the brackets clip and hold the blinds from below the headrail and put the front side of the headrail in the bracket and secure it
